In the municipality of Borgo Chiese, in the heart of the Valle del Chiese, you’ll find three remarkable malghe: Malga Serolo, Malga Romanterra and Malga Rive. Surrounded by forests, alpine meadows and spectacular mountain scenery, they are an ideal destination for hikers, mountain bikers and nature lovers.

The three mountain farms are mainly accessible from the village of Brione and are connected by forest roads and scenic hiking trails. Along the way you’ll walk or cycle through dense conifer forests, across flower-filled alpine meadows and along historic military roads, with breathtaking views of the Adamello mountain range around every corner.

Malga Serolo

Located at approximately 1,715 metres above sea level, Malga Serolo is one of the most important mountain farms in the Borgo Chiese area. Every summer, cattle are brought to the alpine pastures, keeping a centuries-old tradition alive.

Using fresh mountain milk, the farm produces delicious artisanal cheeses, butter and other dairy products following traditional methods. Visitors can purchase these local specialties directly at the malga and enjoy the authentic flavours of the mountains.

Malga Romanterra

Continuing along the route, you will reach Malga Romanterra, located at approximately 1,713 metres above sea level. Surrounded by vast alpine meadows and forests, this traditional mountain farm has preserved its authentic alpine character and is a pleasant stop for hikers and mountain bikers.

During the summer months, the malga is a lively working farm where cattle graze on the surrounding pastures. Their fresh mountain milk is used to produce artisanal cheeses and other traditional dairy products.

With its peaceful setting, unspoilt natural surroundings and beautiful mountain views, Malga Romanterra is the perfect place to take a break and experience the authentic atmosphere of the Valle del Chiese.

Malga Rive

A short distance away lies Malga Rive, located at approximately 1,645 metres above sea level. This traditional mountain farm has been completely renovated in recent years and is easily reached from Malga Serolo via a forest road that winds through beautiful green surroundings.

The malga is known for raising both cows and goats and for producing excellent artisanal cheeses. Its delicious goat cheeses (formaggelle di capra) are especially popular, while butter and other local specialties are also available to purchase during the summer grazing season.

Surrounded by wide alpine meadows and peaceful mountain landscapes, Malga Rive is an ideal place to take a break during a hike or mountain bike ride.
