What to do on a rainy day

Even if the weather isn’t perfect, your holiday at Lake Idro doesn’t have to end! Set out to discover many interesting activities: museums, swimming pools, scenic tours and relaxing moments. Some activities are just a few kilometres from the lake, others require a bit more driving – but they are perfect for turning a rainy day into an opportunity to explore the area. Here are some ideas to make every day special, even in bad weather.

Museums and culture (also for families)

Brescia – Museum of Santa Giulia
A journey through history, from Roman times to the Middle Ages, in a museum complex that is a World Heritage Site.

Verona – Castelvecchio
A medieval castle with an art collection featuring works from the 12th to the 18th century.

Indoor swimming pools

Indoor swimming pool Condino, Aquaclub Valle del Chiese
Perfect for swimming, relaxing or entertaining children. Modern and cosy atmosphere.

Indoor swimming pool in Idro, Idroswim
A good alternative for exercise, even on grey days. Also ideal for those who want to play sports.

Shopping and leisure

ELNÒS Shopping – Roncadelle (Brescia)
Shopping centre with more than 140 shops, large supermarket, cinema and IKEA. Easy to reach and perfect for spending an afternoon.

Il Leone shopping centre – Lonato del Garda
Spacious with many fashion and sports shops, electronics, restaurants, kids’ corner, large supermarket. Followed by a visit to Lake Garda, weather permitting.

Car trips: the 4 lakes

In light rain, you can discover the nearby lakes by car. Stop in villages along the way for a cup of coffee or a typical lunch.

  • Lake Idro
  • Lake Valvestino – charming and surrounded by greenery
  • Lake Garda – the largest lake, with a spectacular landscape
  • Lake Ledro – small, quiet and rich in history (another UNESCO pile dwelling)

A tip for families

Many of these activities are also perfect for children: interactive museums, indoor swimming pools and car trips are great options for all ages. Many facilities also provide information material in English and German. A little imagination… and a rainy day turns into a special occasion to remember!
